Timothy Radcliffe was an important figure in the first session of the Synod on Synodality. He has made many visits to Australia over the years and during his most recent visit he gave a retreat and public talks in Canberra. The author attended one and this article appeared in Eureka Street, 11 April 2024, and is reprinted here with the permission of the author and Eureka Street. John Warhurst AO is Emeritus Professor of Political Science at the Australian National University in Canberra where he was Professor of Political Science from 1993-2008. Before that he was Professor of Politics at the University of New England in Armidale, NSW, from 1985-1993.
