I guess I am not the only priest who has, for a long time now, felt very uneasy about the fact that people find Mass boring. In the early years after the revelations about Catholic clergy sexually abusing children came to light, it was standard for us to dismiss the victims as only after the money – in fact some of us are still doing that. In a similar manner, it is easy to dismiss those who find Mass boring as shallow, people whose faith is only superficial, rather than admitting that they may be right. For me, the problem has sat in my mind for ages, particularly as I am unwilling to supply the Trent worshippers with any arguments. However!
