Launching out into the deep

Pat Power, retired bishop of the Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn, preached this homily at the ordination of Adam Crouch and Daniel Serratore on October 7 at St Christopher’s Cathedral, Manuka. This homily has much to encourage us all in participating in the life of the church.

Tonight, like Moses of old, we stand on holy ground. We are in the presence of the living God who has called our brothers, Adam and Daniel to a unique life of service as priests of the new and eternal covenant.

They received the gift of life in their mothers’ wombs and the pledge of eternal life in the sacraments of initiation, Baptism, Confirmation and the Blessed Eucharist. Nurtured within the security of family love and the support of the wider Christian community, they embarked on a journey of response to God’s love.
