International Church Reform Conference in Chicago
Ian McGinnity, priest of Parramatta diocese and past NCP chairman and Tony Flannery CSsR, founding member of the Association of Catholic Priests in Ireland and currently on the the Leadership Team reflect on the conference in Chicago, October 17-20, that brought together church reform groups from around the world to discuss how to move forward. Not all agreed on a common plan.
Ian McGinnity: fruitful but frustrating
I was privileged to attend with forty two other priests and lay persons from 11 different countries, the 3rd international gathering to develop strategies supporting Pope Francis and his drive for reform in the Catholic Church which met at Arlington Heights, Chicago. I had been part of the 2 previous meetings in Bregenz (2013) and Limerick (2015). Fellow Australian David Timbs, representing Catholics for Renewal was also a participant.
