A practical response to the Pope’s call for a church apology to gay people


Ben Oh, convenor of Rainbow Catholics InterAgency, was involved in preparing and offering a liturgy of apology and lament at St Joseph’s Newtown on August 13, 2016 to respond to the Pope’s call for an apology. He includes the liturgy which is available for all to use.

One Friday evening at St. Joseph’s Church Newtown over 100 people gathered to offer an apology to LGBTI people, their families and allies for the pain caused by the church through its pronouncements and members’ language and actions which continue to marginalise and silence the voice of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex people.
