Peter Day, PP of the South Tuggeranong Parish in the Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn offers a response to the position Cardinal Pell has taken around the issue of who is welcome at the table during the October Synod on the Family.

I understand that in the lead-up to next month’s Extraordinary Synod of Bishops on the Family you and a number of your confreres are making a point or re-asserting the church’s longstanding exclusion of divorced and remarried people to communion.

Your foreword to the soon to be published, The Gospel of the Family, appears to leave us with little doubt: outsiders are not welcome.
